Laser cladding equipment is mainly composed of the following core structures. Each module works together to ensure high precision, high efficiency and high stability of the cladding process:


1. Laser emission system (laser)

  • Core component that provides a high energy density laser beam for rapid melting of metal powder or wire.
  • Common laser types include: fiber laser, semiconductor laser, CO2 laser, etc.
  • The power can be selected according to the process requirements, such as 1kW~10kW.

2. Optical transmission system

  • Includes collimator, focusing lens group, optical fiber transmission system, etc.
  • Realize efficient transmission and precise focusing of the laser beam from the laser to the workpiece surface.
  • The focus spot diameter and focal depth directly affect the cladding quality.

3. Coaxial powder feeding system / wire feeding system

  • Metal powder feeder or wire feeder ensures that the cladding material is fed into the molten pool evenly and stably.
  • Coaxial powder feeding technology can achieve uniform cladding in 360° direction and improve process consistency.
  • Powder feeders include spiral powder feeders, vibrating powder feeders, etc.

4. Workpiece motion system (CNC platform or robot system)

  • Usually it is an X/Y/Z three-axis CNC workbench or a six-axis industrial robot.
  • Control the exact path and speed of the workpiece or nozzle to achieve complex curved surface cladding.
  • Can be combined with a rotating worktable to achieve multi-dimensional cladding.

5. Cooling system

  • Including laser cooling, water-cooling nozzles, etc., which are used to control the temperature of various parts of the equipment to prevent thermal deformation or damage.
  • Ensure long-term stable operation of the equipment.

6. Control system

  • Use PLC, CNC or industrial computer system for cladding path planning, parameter setting and process control.
  • It can realize the linkage control of multiple parameters such as laser power, powder feeding amount, movement speed, etc.
  • Support human-machine interface (HMI), easy operation and parameter visualization.

7. Protective gas system

  • Argon or nitrogen is usually used as a protective gas to prevent oxidation of the cladding area and improve the quality of the cladding layer.
  • The gas passes through the nozzle to form a protective atmosphere, covering the molten pool area.

8. Safety protection system

  • Including laser protection cover, smoke filtration system, temperature monitoring, emergency stop switch, etc.
  • Meet industrial safety standards to ensure operator safety.
