The differences between blue and red lasers are mainly in the following aspects:
1. Wavelength
Blue laser: The wavelength is usually in the range of 400-500 nm, with 450 nm being the most common.
Red laser: The wavelength is usually in the range of 620-750 nm, with 650 nm being the most common.
2. Application areas
Blue laser:
Processing highly reflective materials (such as copper, gold, aluminum, etc.) due to their high absorption rate at short wavelengths.
Suitable for precision machining, welding, cutting and additive manufacturing.
Used in display technology such as projectors and monitors.
Red laser:
Used for optical communication, barcode scanning, laser presentation and laser presentation tools.
Used in medical optics (e.g. laser therapy) and measurement.
Approximately used for industrial processing.
3. Energy absorption efficiency
The short wavelength of blue lasers is more efficiently absorbed by certain materials (such as copper and aluminum) and is suitable for processing highly reflective metals.
Red laser wavelengths are absorbed less efficiently by most highly reflective metals.
4. Output power
The output power of blue lasers has increased in recent years, but is generally lower than that of red lasers.
Red lasers offer greater power and are suitable for applications requiring higher beam intensity.
5. Price
Blue lasers are generally more expensive due to their complex manufacturing technology.
Red light laser technology is mature and its price is relatively leading.
6. Luminous flux characteristics
Blue lasers have stronger focusing capabilities and are suitable for precision processing.
The beam gain of the red laser is relatively increased and is used in scenes where an increased light spot is required.
Blue lasers are better suited for precision machining and processing of highly reflective materials, while red lasers are more suitable for traditional optical applications and scenarios with lower power requirements.
